Siem Reap, Cambodia. March 2018
A trip to the Samatoa Lotus Farm in Siem Reap. We touched the rough prickly wet steam (felt tiny rough thorns that needed smoothing) to breaking the stems, pulling out filaments, rolling filaments together into the thread to be woven before softening with soaking and friction. Beautiful fabric textures, weights, colors, and blends with cotton, silk and kapok. In the Samatoa photos, I am wearing a new tailor made Cambodian silk ikat handwoven dress in glorious colors of the lotus from one of my own patterns.

I share the lotus fabric dress, soon to be worn in India, that I hand made with silk embroidery stitching from Samatoa fabric purchased a year ago, photo taken the following day in the Ta Phrom Angkor Wat temple.

Our lotus filament teacher tied a lotus thread around our wrist before we went on to see fabrics in the Samatoa and then the IKTT Textile showrooms where we played with shawls in the green and rose colors you see everywhere in nature in this land of the lotus.

Warming up adventures from October 1st to 28th near Angkor Wat during an Integrated Immersion in Siem Reap. Looking forward to sharing travels, temples, textiles, tailors and transformation with Naturopathy students .
